The question: *tries to remember how the columbus egg story went*
The answer, the first: “something like, columbus and amerigo (?) challenging each other about making an egg stand up.”
The answer, the second: “i suppose, columbus went, ‘wait, okay. wait. i’ll go ask the one inside the egg whether they prefer to lie down or to stand up’”

I guess, you know… little chicks are sleeping in the egg, that’s why they are made to lie sideways. i know how hard it is to sleep standing up, or at least sitting up.
